It seems it is not just your talent and hard work that helps to climb up the corporate ladder in the long run. According to a research done by Washington University in St. Louis, a personality trait in your spouse can work wonders for your professional success.

The researchers studied 5,000 married couples over a period of whopping five years. The participants gave a series of psychological tests, and were assessed on the basis of their score on five personality traits- openness, extroversion, agreeableness, neurotic-ism and conscientiousness.

The study states, “In an effort to gauge whether these spousal personality traits might be seeping into the workplace, they (the researchers) tracked the on-the-job performance of working spouses using annual surveys designed to measure occupational success — self-reported opinions on job satisfaction, salary increases and the likelihood of being promoted.”
